AMVL Migrations – Brisbane Migration Agency
Australian citizenship was first introduced in Australia during 1949 by the enactment of the Nationality and Citizenship Act. The very first citizenship ceremony was held in Canberra during February 1949 and seven men received Australian citizenship (one to represent each state and the ACT). Throughout the inaugural year of the new legislation 2,493 people from just over 35 nationalities were granted citizenship. The 5 most prominent nationalities included Italian, German, Greek, Polish and Yugoslav. In 2015, 136,572 people obtained Australian citizenship by conferral from 210 different countries. Among these nationalities, the top 5 now consist of India, United Kingdom, Philippines, China and South Africa.
Australian citizenship, by birth or choice, is now a unique bond that unites our culturally diverse society. AMVL Migrations would like to offer our congratulations to all our clients who were recently conferred with Australian citizenship!
